Blog Entry#002

  • The team decided that we make an app meant to advertise goods and services around CMU
  • Title: ShopNav
  • intended users: CMU students, anyone interested in buying without the hassle of walking to find out about the prices.
    • remedied pain point of the users: It's frustrating to walk around to know what the prices are for goods and services.
    • Remedied pain point of the service/goods provider: More customers would be buying if they are assisted with their decisions; More customers would be more inclined to try new things because of advertising.
  • I went and interviewed students:

  • The first interview:
    • I asked a student: "What are your thoughts regarding an app that's designed to advertise goods and services?"
    • She answered that it would be really helpful and would save student's time

  • The second interview:
    • I asked the same question.
    • They were a bit shy and needed a bit of explanation on what the app is about
    • Eventually, they answered pretty much the same as the first interview

  • And then I interviewed business owners:
  •     The first Interview:
    • I asked their thoughts regarding an app that would help them in advertising their goods and services.
    • He replied that it would be great and helpful, it makes ordering faster and lets the customers know what to expect beforehand.
  • The second interview
    • I asked the same question but also added something that felt right based on my interaction with her. My gut feeling kept insisting I should ask about working students.
    • I got the same answer and more. This gut feeling of mine knew that she might have been a working student in the past. I got advice on what it's like to be a working student and I got the idea that this app of ours could also be used to help the average working student.
      • perhaps we could make it free for the working student?
